Do you want to not only draw, but develop complete technical solutions that are ultimately used on board the most exclusive superyachts in the world? As an Engineer at Van Driel, you will work on innovative custom-made products such as cranes, hatches, doors, masts, tender poles and special moving systems.
No product is the same. Every assignment starts with a specific request from a shipyard, architect or client. You translate this request into a technically feasible design in which functionality, safety, maintenance, weight and design come together.
What are you going to do?
As an Engineer, you design and technically develop our yacht equipment, from the initial elaboration to production, assembly, and commissioning. You translate concepts into 3D models, production drawings, bills of materials, and complete constructions. In doing so, you calculate and assess factors such as loads, movements, and dimensions, and integrate mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components.
You take into account installation space, accessibility, maintenance, safety, and manufacturability, and coordinate connections with the construction of the yacht. You also process customer requirements, classification demands, and technical changes, and support work preparation, purchasing, production, assembly, and service. This keeps you involved throughout the entire project, allowing you to see your design come to life in the workshop and ultimately function on board.
Which products are you working on?
You will work on a wide range of custom solutions for luxury yachts and superyachts. This includes tender, knuckle boom, folding, and overhead cranes, large hull and deck hatches, and technically integrated shell doors. In addition, you will work on telescoping navigation masts, tender poles, and other telescoping systems, platforms, and movable deck structures. Special custom solutions also come along, such as movable pool floors, jacuzzi decks, and folding boat seats.
What are you bringing?
We are looking for an engineer who loves to fully understand technology and wants to make designs not just beautiful, but above all reliable and feasible.
In addition, you recognize yourself in the following:
You have a completed higher vocational education (HBO) in mechanical engineering or a comparable technical study;
A completed secondary vocational education (MBO) in technology with relevant engineering experience can also be suitable;
You have experience with 3D CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor;
You can independently set up technical drawings and assemblies;
You have knowledge of structural engineering, materials, and production methods;
You are interested in mechanics, hydraulics, and moving structures;
You can accurately assess tolerances, fits, and welded structures;
You think practically and take production, assembly, and maintenance into account during design;
You work accurately and keep track of changes and revisions;
You communicate easily with colleagues from engineering, the workshop, service, and project management;
You are fluent in Dutch and English;
Experience in yacht building, mechanical engineering, offshore, or maritime engineering is an advantage.

Salary from € 3,500 to € 5,500 gross per month
Employment of 32 to 40 hours per week
