The vacancy

Do you want to work on custom structures that will eventually be installed on board the most exclusive superyachts in the world? As a Welder at Van Driel, you will work on high-quality products such as hatches, cranes, doors, and other technical structures.

No project is the same. Every structure is specially designed for a yacht and requires craftsmanship, precision, and a high-quality finish. Together with your colleagues, you ensure that every product is delivered strong, dimensionally stable, and ready for further assembly.

What are you going to do?

As a Welder, you assemble, weld, and finish parts and structures for our yacht equipment. You work from technical drawings and bills of materials, and are responsible for tacking, final welding, grinding, and finishing a variety of structures. In doing so, you continuously check the dimensions, fit, and quality of your own work.

You work with steel, aluminum, and where necessary, stainless steel. You also regularly consult with engineering, work preparation, and colleagues in the workshop to ensure that every product is delivered safely, accurately, and on schedule. Due to the size of our products, you regularly work in various welding positions and around larger structures.

Which products are you working on?

You will work on a wide variety of custom solutions for luxury and superyachts, including tender, knuckle boom, folding, and overhead cranes, hull and deck hatches, shell doors, telescoping navigation masts, tender poles, platforms, and movable deck structures. Additionally, you will develop specials such as movable pool floors, jacuzzi decks, and folding boat seats. In doing so, Van Driel combines engineering, customization, and a seamless integration with the yacht's design.

What are you bringing?

You have a higher professional education (hbo) in mechanical engineering or a similar field. A technical vocational education (mbo) with relevant engineering experience may also be suitable. You have experience with 3D-CAD, preferably Autodesk Inventor, and are able to independently set up technical drawings and assemblies. You have knowledge of structures, materials, and production methods, as well as an interest in mechanics, hydraulics, and moving systems.

You work practically and accurately, take production, assembly, and maintenance into account, and communicate easily with colleagues. You have a good command of Dutch and English. Experience in yacht building, mechanical engineering, offshore, or maritime technology is a plus.

Do you not have experience with yacht equipment yet, but do have a solid technical foundation? Then experienced colleagues will introduce you to our products and applications.

What do we offer you?

You will receive a gross monthly salary of €3,500 to €5,500 based on a 40-hour workweek, and you will work 32 to 40 hours per week. You will be given a lot of freedom and responsibility within diverse projects for international yacht builders. Thanks to direct contact with the workshop, you will see your designs actually come to life and can view the work onboard. You will work with professional software and will have plenty of room for training, development, and career growth. All of this within a down-to-earth organization with short communication lines and committed colleagues.

In the spotlight

A day in the workshop with Robin

  • 08:00 AM

    Start of the workday

My workday naturally starts with a good cup of coffee. Catching up with colleagues for a bit, and then we start the day together.

  • 08:15

    The daily schedule

Together with my colleague René, I go through the planning. He has years of experience, so if I have any questions about anything, I can always turn to him.

  • 08:30 AM

    Get started!

Today I am continuing with a project we have been working on for a while. Step by step, we are building a crane that will soon be installed on board.

  • 12:00 PM

    Lunch and coffee with colleagues

Time to recharge. Having lunch together, catching up with colleagues, and then getting back to work with fresh energy.

  • 1:00 PM

    Working on the project together

We collaborate a lot, help each other where needed, and as a team, we ensure everything is perfect down to the last detail.

  • 4:30 PM

    A visit to the shipyard

Just dropped by the shipyard in Amsterdam. I'm not allowed to take photos inside, but it's still awesome to see where our work ultimately ends up.
